Working in downtown Fredericksburg as a massage therapist with Alison Sullivan & Associates team that specializes in integrative health has helped me to learn so much and teach others about aromatherapy.
One of my personal favorite oils to use during massage is Deep Blue by doTERRA. After a long day of work, exercising, or working in the garden there is nothing like applying some deep blue oil and adding a little bit of the deep blue lotion to help soothe your aching muscles. What all goes into this blend? doTERRA created Deep Blue by combining Wintergreen, Camphor, Peppermint, Ylang Ylang, Helichrysum, Blue Tansy, Blue Chamomile, and Osmanthus oils. How do I use Deep Blue? You will want to apply this oil topically! Apply it to areas where the muscles are sore and then add some Deep Blue lotion for extra relief. Deep Blue is one of the oils that i using during aromatouch massages, so if you would like to try it out and get a massage, that is the perfect option for you! As always, if you have any questions about this oil, any other oil, or any massages, please do not hesitate to contact me or call me.

Each year there are those few weeks that are just so stressful and busy- it seems almost impossible to get any self-care in to reduce your stress. Here are four quick + easy ways to reduce your stress and give yourself a little bit of self-care when you need it, because you deserve it!
1. Take a short walk, run, or just get in a little bit of activity. Exercising helps you feel better and just has so MANY incredible benefits for your body. Even if you just take a short 15 minute walk it will help to clear your mind AND give your body some exercise. 2. Take a hot bath! Just soak away in a tub and escape to 30 minutes of paradise. Add essential oils, such as lavender, chamomile, or marjoram, and Epsom salt for some extra stress reducing! 3. 10 minutes to yourself Okay, i’m serious this one can help to make a WORLD of difference. Take 10 minutes to yourself, to journal, meditate, read, or just practice breathing techniques. 4. Get a massage Massages are one of the BEST ways to reduce stress. You can get 30 minute massages for under $50. If you come to me, I will diffuse oils to help you relax and alleviate stress during the massage, as well! If you want to give yourself a little self-care by starting with a 30 minute massage or a 60 minute massage, schedule your appointment now! Black Pepper has grown to be one of my favorite oils, especially during the spring time!
If you’ve been in my office these last couple of weeks, you’ve probably heard me sneezing or coughing. I, like most of us, have spring allergies. I had been experiencing some irritating wheezing when lying down at night to go to bed that was keeping me awake. After googling my symptoms and ruling out lung cancer, I discovered that my wheezing many be attributed to post nasal drip. I then googled treatment for post nasal drip, and discovered black pepper was an option. The article I was reading wanted me to crack some black pepper and cook it in a skillet and then breath in the fumes. However, I happened to have some black pepper oil that I had not really found a good use for yet, so I decided to use that instead. I put a few drops (about 4-5) in a small glass of water (about 6 oz) and drank that twice a day. The first night, I noticed my wheezing was greatly reduced. A few days later, I was out of town for the weekend and did not have my oils with me and unfortunately, my wheezing resumed. I have since gone back to my twice a day habit and have not had any problem sleeping. For more information about the wonderful benefits of black pepper, check out the doTerra website, or if you would like a free consultation on the many benefits of essential oils, let me know and I would be glad to set up a 30 minute appointment with you so we can discuss it further. |
