Black Pepper has grown to be one of my favorite oils, especially during the spring time!
If you’ve been in my office these last couple of weeks, you’ve probably heard me sneezing or coughing. I, like most of us, have spring allergies. I had been experiencing some irritating wheezing when lying down at night to go to bed that was keeping me awake. After googling my symptoms and ruling out lung cancer, I discovered that my wheezing many be attributed to post nasal drip. I then googled treatment for post nasal drip, and discovered black pepper was an option. The article I was reading wanted me to crack some black pepper and cook it in a skillet and then breath in the fumes. However, I happened to have some black pepper oil that I had not really found a good use for yet, so I decided to use that instead. I put a few drops (about 4-5) in a small glass of water (about 6 oz) and drank that twice a day. The first night, I noticed my wheezing was greatly reduced. A few days later, I was out of town for the weekend and did not have my oils with me and unfortunately, my wheezing resumed. I have since gone back to my twice a day habit and have not had any problem sleeping. For more information about the wonderful benefits of black pepper, check out the doTerra website, or if you would like a free consultation on the many benefits of essential oils, let me know and I would be glad to set up a 30 minute appointment with you so we can discuss it further.
