A lot of people have asked me if CATS massage means that I give massages to cats.
While that is a valid question due to the name, the answer is no I do not give massages to your pet cats (I am so sorry for that let down, BUT there is good news too!!). CATS is an acronym that stands for Certified Advanced Therapies and Massage. There are two main types of CATS that I practice; Spinal Reflex Therapy and Manual Lymphatic Drainage. Spinal Reflex Therapy: Spinal Reflex Therapy (SRT) is a type of massage that’s great for people who have had a sudden or unexpected injury, such as a fall. SRT is a treatment for back pain that reduces pain in the deep tissue by addressing the underlying cause of chronically tight muscles. This type of therapy addresses the underlying cause & nervous system by using a pressure point technique. SRT Benefits: SRT's effect on the body is that it causes all of the muscles to relax. Benefits include: • Feel muscles lengthen • Pain is reduced immediately • Range of motion is improved This massage therapy provides benefits for your day-to-day life, so that you can start living pain free or as an athlete to reach your greatest potential! Manual Lymphatic Drainage: Another type of CATS is Manual Lymphatic Drainage. This type of massage is highly beneficial for people with swelling, particularly after surgery such as knee or hip surgery MLD is a detox massage which helps to stimulate the lymphatic system. This stimulation is caused by gentle massaging strokes performed during the massage. The lymphatic system is encourage through this massage to eliminate waste, bacteria and excess fluids. MLD Benefits: MLD has numerous benefits for your lymphatic system & entire body! This form of detox massage's benefits include:
